+ “Brisage Rouge” Cabernet/Merlot blend from award-winning KLIPSUN Vineyards, Red Mountain, WA
A pioneer in Washington’s venerable Red Mountain AVA, Klipsun Vineyards has been rated one of the 25 best vineyards in the world by Wine & Spirits magazine: http://www.wineandspiritsmagazine.com/pages/Klipsun.html . We are honored to be working with fruit from such a prestigious vineyard, and are proud to offer our 2005 “Brisage Rouge”, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, exclusively from Klipsun. Klipsun’s 20+ year old vines particularly shine in wines such as Andrew Will’s 2000 Merlot, “with plenty of pure, concentrated blackberry fruit, while floral notes, black flecks of dark chocolate and hints of spice complicate the picture. This is merlot as it should be grown, something more than a simple, soft red. It's bright, less structured and more delicate than cabernet, but just as complex.”

“Brisage Blanc” a White Bordeaux-Style Blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon from Klipsun Vineyards
2005 will be our first year to offer these classic Bordeaux varietals. The wines will be barrel-fermented in a combination of new and old French oak barrels. The Klipsun fruit promises to make an exceptional wine. Long, cool nights late this summer have allowed the fruit to develop full flavors whilst maintaining the best acid to sugar balance we’ve ever seen. Klipsun Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc are known for full-bodied rich textures and delicious aromas of stone fruit, honey, figs, and melons, as well as herbal notes of straw, hay and earth.

“Fetish” Klipsun/Meek Vineyards Syrah
Being my favorite grape, I’m particularly excited to make a Klipsun Syrah. This wine is likely to be the best of the bunch. Eastern Washington grows exceptional Syrah, creating powerful, exhilarating wines of great depth and character, typically showing aromas and flavors of roasted coffee, leather, black currants, dark earth and deep spiciness. Across the river from Klipsun lies Meek Vineyards, a newer planting which shows great promise. Our 2004 Meek Syrah is a racy, exotic wine, exhibiting concentrated black fruit flavors as well as aromas of tahini, roasted sesame, caramelized soy sauce and cotton candy.

“Jamon”, 100% Salishan Vineyards Pinot Noir
Our 32 year old Western Washington vines at Salishan Vineyard in LaCenter, WA, just north of the Willamette, have experienced reduced fruit set, coupled with a long dry summer which has produced low yields of extreme density and concentration. The resulting wines are destined to be deep, intense and long-lived. My absolute favorite wine to pair with food, particularly complex cheeses and charcuterie, Pinot Noir from LaCenter is a wine of elegance and finesse, expressing earthy, leafy flavors as well as a subtly complex meatiness. For our 4th wedding anniversary, Kristin and I opened a bottle of our first vintage, a 2000 Pinot Noir. At five years of age, it was delicate, sweet, aromatic, ruby, clear, haunting, leafy, complex, a beautifully balanced, delicious wine. If you’re a fan of Pinot, you won’t want to miss out on the 2005. Shares will be very limited this year.
+ “Cock’s Red” Sea Breeze Farm’s Bordeaux-Style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petite Verdot and Malbec
Bold and audacious, our classic Sea Breeze Farm blend exhibits typical Bordeaux flavors of chocolate, cherries, spice and vanilla with a bit of blueberry in the background. Meek Vineyards has drastically reduced their yields this year, forcing a concentration of flavors in the grapes which will make the 2005 wines more dense and powerful than ever. “Cock’s Red” shines as the best value in our 2005 Wineshare lineup.
